HEY THERE!
I AM JAN PODZIMEK
SOFTWARE TESTER

My testing approach aligns with the principles of Rapid Software Testing, focusing on adaptability, critical thinking, and real-time analysis over rigid processes. Instead of strictly following predefined test cases, I explore the system through investigative and context-driven testing. This allows me to uncover issues quickly, adapt to changes, and provide fast, valuable feedback to the team. I rely on my intuition, experience, and technical understanding to evaluate risk, design meaningful tests on the fly, and make informed decisions about what to test next.
What I naturally don’t like is the labeling of testers as either 'manual' or 'automation'—it oversimplifies the role. Effective testing combines critical thinking, exploration, and the smart use of tools, regardless of such labels.
Currently, I work at Alza.cz, testing the AlzaTrade project while continuously expanding my skills in software testing. I quickly learn new tools and technologies as needed by the development process. With experience in front-end, back-end, integration, and end-to-end testing, I adapt to whatever is required to get the job done.

C#
I'm not a programmer, and my C# skills aren't at the level of a developer, but I have a solid understanding of the code and can follow changes made by others. This allows me to review pull requests and understand how updates impact the system. I also create simple testing tools that help me test faster and more efficiently.

Microsoft SQL Server
Using MS SQL mainly for data validation, backend process verification, and test scenario support. This includes running SQL queries to check data integrity, perform joins, filter records, and ensure correct data processing. It's also a helpful tool for troubleshooting production issues when needed.

Azure DevOps
Managing CI/CD pipelines, building applications, and deploying them to both development and production environments are part of my daily routine.

Git
I'm a mid-level Git user with experience in creating commits, merging branches, and resolving conflicts. I’m comfortable working with common Git workflows in collaborative projects.

Postman
Using Postman to create and manage collections, run automated API tests, and simplify testing by calling sequences of requests that would otherwise take significantly more time if done manually.
- I successfully passed the ISTQB Foundation Level exam. While I don't fully agree with everything the certification covers, I saw it as an important step to demonstrate my commitment at the beginning of my testing career.
- I've also passed the C1 English proficiency exam, so I'm more than comfortable using English in a professional setting.

Puzzle Solving
Solving puzzles helps me practice creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking—skills that are essential for keeping my mind sharp. It trains me to think clearly and outside the box, which is crucial for doing my job effectively.

I'm a Sportsman!
I enjoy almost every kind of sport—running, hiking, playing badminton, working out—anything that keeps me active and energized.
